What we do
Services
Design, build, sign and ship, for every platform your users are on.
Mobile apps
Native apps for iPhone, iPad and Android, built for the platform they run on.
We write native Swift on iOS and native Kotlin on Android when the app needs to feel exactly right, or share one React Native codebase when that is the faster, simpler path. Either way you get platform conventions, widgets and notifications handled on each platform.
Desktop apps
Mac, Windows and Linux from one codebase, or native when it matters.
Most desktop products ship faster and stay maintainable as one Electron codebase across three operating systems. When performance or platform depth calls for it, we go native instead. Every build comes with signed installers, notarisation on macOS and auto-update out of the box.
Games
Browser, desktop and mobile games, from 2D prototypes to full 3D worlds.
3D worlds run in WebGL with Three.js, 2D games run in Phaser or a native engine when that fits better, and multiplayer titles get a real server behind them, not a bolted-on afterthought. We build for a low-end phone and a gaming PC at the same time.
AI-powered apps
Private assistants and agents that work inside a business, built on its own data.
We build assistants that answer staff in Microsoft Teams from a company's own documents, agents that handle customer messages and calls with human approval where it matters, and document tools that turn PDFs and forms into finished work. Hosted in Australia, cited answers, nothing used to train models.
Web apps
React and Next.js front ends backed by Go or Node, deployed where you need them.
We build the interface in React or Next.js and the back end in Go or Node, whichever suits the workload. Deployment goes to Cloudflare for most products, or to your own infrastructure when that is a requirement rather than a preference.
Backends and multiplayer
Real-time servers, accounts and sync for products that need more than a database.
This is the part users never see and always feel: WebSocket servers for real-time multiplayer, licensing services for desktop products, and accounts and sync that keep a person's data with them across devices.
Release and support
Submission, signing and everything that keeps a shipped product working.
App Store and Google Play submission, Microsoft Store listings and Mac notarisation, code signing on every platform that asks for it, and crash reporting once you are live. Then updates as operating systems move and features get added.
How it goes
From prototype
to release.
- 01
Find the point.
Understand the people, the problem and what a useful outcome looks like.
- 02
Make it tangible.
Put a prototype in your hands. Test the idea while it is still easy to change.
- 03
Build it properly.
Build the interface, integrations and release pipeline.
- 04
Ship and improve.
Get it out into the world. Learn from real use and work on what comes next.
Before you get in touch
Common questions.
- What does JCR Interactive build?
- Mobile apps for iPhone, iPad and Android, desktop apps for Mac and Windows, web apps, games, and AI assistants and agents for businesses. We also build the servers behind them: accounts, sync, licensing and real-time multiplayer.
- Where are you based, and do you work with clients outside Sydney?
- The studio is in Sydney, inside JCR Computers, an IT company established in 2006. We work with clients across Australia.
- Do you build native or cross-platform apps?
- Both. Native Swift on iOS and native Kotlin on Android when the app needs to feel exactly right, or one shared React Native codebase when that is the faster, simpler path. On desktop, usually one Electron codebase for Mac, Windows and Linux, or native when performance calls for it.
- How does a project start?
- With a short call about what you want to build. We come back with questions, then a written scope with a fixed price or a sprint plan, before any build work begins.
- Will I see the app while it is being built?
- Yes. You get a working build every week that you can install on your own phone or laptop, and any change to the scope is agreed with you before the work starts.
- Can you publish the app to the App Store and Google Play for us?
- Yes. We handle App Store and Google Play submission, Microsoft Store listings, Mac notarisation and code signing on every platform that asks for it, through review to launch day.
- Can you build AI for our business using our own documents?
- Yes. We build private assistants that answer staff in Microsoft Teams from a company's own documents, agents that handle customer messages with human approval where it matters, and tools that turn PDFs and forms into finished work. Hosted in Australia, with cited answers, and nothing is used to train models.
- Who will I be working with?
- The people building your project. The team stays small on purpose, so there is no account manager between you and the engineers.
- What happens after launch?
- We keep the product working as operating systems move, add crash reporting once you are live, and build new features as you need them.
