- Any modern browser
- Node.js and WebSockets
- Three.js, WebGL
Farm Wars started as a question: how much game can you ship as a single web page? The answer turned out to be a full valley you can walk across, with crops that grow in real time, a ute and a cotton picker you can drive, fences you can build, and other players you can trade with or fight.
Everything renders in WebGL through Three.js, with quality tiers so it runs on a phone as well as a gaming PC. A small Node server keeps the world in sync over WebSockets, handles saves and runs the seasonal flood that ends each generation.
It is playable today at farmwars.jcr.au with no install and no account wall, on desktop, iPad and phone.
Features
A world you walk through
Third person, first person and a top-down farm view, all in one scene. Paddocks, fences, sheds, silos and the neighbours' estates.
Live multiplayer
Other players share the valley in real time. Trade, race the ute, or settle a dispute with a spud gun.
Farming that runs on a clock
Crops grow while you are away. Harvest with the header, sell at the co-op, and put the money into land, machinery or defences.
Floods and generations
When the water comes, the valley resets. Legacy carries forward through the family trust, so long-term play has somewhere to go.
Made for every screen
Keyboard and mouse on desktop, touch controls on iPad and phone, and quality tiers so a low-end device still gets a smooth frame rate.
