Doodle: Learn to Draw

Doodle privacy policy

Doodle collects no personal information and sends nothing off the device. This page says what the app does with data, in plain English, so you can decide whether to trust it.

At a glance

  • No account, no sign-in, no email address.
  • No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no third-party code.
  • No internet connection needed. Nothing is sent anywhere.
  • Your child's name, avatar and drawings stay on the device.
  • Delete the app and everything goes with it.

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to Doodle: Learn to Draw, the iOS app for iPad and iPhone published by JCR IT Services Pty Ltd, trading as JCR Interactive, in Australia. Doodle is made for children and is listed in the Kids category of the App Store.

What Doodle collects

Nothing. Doodle does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. There is no account and no sign-in. The app never asks for an email address, a password, a phone number or a payment method, and it never asks a child for anything about themselves beyond a first name to say hello with.

What stays on the device

During setup a child, or a parent, types a first name and picks an avatar. Doodle uses them to greet the child and to label the gallery. They are kept in the app's own storage on the device and are never transmitted.

Every drawing is saved to the gallery inside the app, in the app's own database on the device. Drawings are never uploaded.

Lesson progress, stickers earned and settings such as sound, voice and left-handed mode are stored on the device in the same way.

Camera and photos

Doodle has a draw on paper mode, where a child draws on real paper and then takes a photo of it, or picks one from the photo library, to keep in the gallery. The photo is resized on the device and saved to the gallery on the device. Photos are never uploaded.

iOS asks for permission before the camera or the photo library is used. If you decline, the rest of Doodle works exactly as before.

Sharing a drawing

A drawing leaves the device only when someone taps Share. That opens the standard iOS share sheet, and the person holding the device chooses where the drawing goes, such as Messages, Mail or Photos. Doodle itself sends nothing anywhere. Share always sits behind a parent gate, in every age band.

No internet, no tracking

Doodle makes no network requests. The only file it reads by address is the voice manifest that ships inside the app itself, so the app works fully offline, including on a flight.

There is no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no third-party software development kit in the app. There is no tracking code of any kind. Nobody, including us, can see how a child uses Doodle.

No purchases, no ads, no way out

There are no in-app purchases and no advertising. There are no links inside the app that a child could follow to a website, a store or another app.

Children and consent

Because Doodle collects no personal information from children, there is nothing for a parent to consent to, nothing to review and nothing to delete on our side. We hold no copy of anything. This is how we meet the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States and the Australian Privacy Principles: the simplest way to protect a child's data is not to collect it.

Deleting your data

Delete the app and everything Doodle stored goes with it: name, avatar, drawings, photos and progress. There is nothing to request from us, because we have nothing.

Which law applies

JCR IT Services Pty Ltd is an Australian company. It handles personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Because Doodle collects no personal information, none is handled at all.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Doodle changes how it handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top before that version is released.
